Utica Children’s Museum board president Helen Schwartz is excited about the resources that Kids Oneida will bring to the table. “The Museum board and current volunteers are an extremely dedicated group with the Museum’s best interest at heart. Having the assistance and expertise of Kids Oneida will help us elevate what the Museum can offer. I’m very much looking forward to this beneficial relationship.”
Kids Oneida executive director Steve Bulger believes this is absolutely the right move for his organization. “Kids Oneida has been supporting kids and families for twenty years and it is within our mission to partner with an entity that provides joy, education and discovery for them. We have depth and expertise in our staff and many resources that will benefit the Museum greatly. Having our headquarters right across the street from the Museum is an added bonus.”
The contractual relationship is supported by The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties. They were involved early on in the discussions, provided excellent guidance and a connection to the New York Council of Non Profits (NYCON) to assist the two organizations. The Foundation is also providing multi-year funding for the effort.
“This partnership is a tremendous opportunity to transform the Children’s Museum’s future, helping to create a regional educational asset that will benefit our children and families for years to come,” said Alicia Dicks, president/CEO of The Community Foundation.
The relationship has begun and Kids Oneida staff has started working with Museum board, staff and volunteers. Social media and email as well as a refreshed online presence will begin right away as a strategic plan and development direction are starting to be created.
The Museum is currently open Thursday – Saturday from 10:30am – 4:30pm and Sundays from 12 noon – 5pm. Groups are welcome and birthday parties are offered throughout the week, including in a brand new venue – a WWII-era train outside of the Museum! www.uticacm.org
